I have spent years fitting chairs to people who sit for eight to twelve hours a day, and my usual advice is boring: buy a well-built task chair, adjust it properly, and get up every forty minutes. Massage chairs almost always fail that test, because the massage is a gimmick bolted onto a mediocre seat. So the AutoFull M6 Ultra+ 2.0 is an interesting case - it is a genuinely expensive chair that puts the ergonomic hardware first and the massage on top.

It is listed at EUR 899.99, reduced from EUR 999.99 on AutoFull's European store, VAT included, and AutoFull markets it as the official chair of IEM Cologne Major 2026. Let me go through what the chair actually does, and then the four things I would want a buyer to understand first.

The climate system is the actually novel part

Ventilated seats are not new - office chairs have had mesh backs for twenty years and car seats have had fans for longer. What AutoFull is doing here is different: they publish specific targets in both directions. Dual fans pull the seat surface down to 66.2 F, and graphite heating elements take it up to 122 F, with three levels in between.

That matters more than it sounds. The single biggest cause of discomfort in long seated sessions is not lack of lumbar support - it is heat and moisture build-up at the seat-body interface, which is why people shift, fidget and end up slouching. Actively moving that heat away is a legitimate ergonomic intervention, not a novelty. Being able to run it warm in an unheated winter room is a nice second use.

The 6-way lumbar tracking is the other genuinely well-engineered piece. AutoFull's own description says the cushion moves up, down, forward and back via a knob, and is designed to keep contact as you shift position rather than being a fixed bolster you either fit or you do not.

AutoFull M6 Ultra+ 2.0 gaming chair cooling and heating system

Where the chair earns its price

  • Three-in-one seat system. Ventilation, heating and massage integrated rather than as add-on pads.
  • Real load rating. 150 kg / 330 lb is a serious figure for a gaming chair, and AutoFull publishes it plainly.
  • 3-year warranty and 30-day returns. For a chair with motors, fans and heating elements in it, warranty length is not a footnote - it is the whole risk calculation.
  • Headrest and footrest included at a stated EUR 200 value, rather than sold separately.
  • Adjustable lumbar that tracks. Fixed lumbar bolsters are the most common failure point in this category.

Four honest problems

1. The Ultra+ is a pre-order that ships September 14. AutoFull's own availability notice on the product page is explicit: the Ultra+ 2.0 is pre-order, while the cheaper Ultra 2.0 is in stock with 2-5 day delivery. If you order the shiatsu version expecting a chair this week, you will be disappointed.

2. The Ultra vs Ultra+ naming is genuinely confusing. One letter separates deep-kneading shiatsu from standard vibration massage, at meaningfully different prices, on the same product page under a dropdown labelled "Selected Model". AutoFull even adds a warning asking you to confirm your massage type before ordering - which tells you people are getting this wrong. Read the dropdown twice.

3. EUR 899.99 is an enormous amount of money for a gaming chair. That is Herman Miller and Steelcase territory, and those chairs come with 12-year warranties and no motors to fail. You are paying a substantial premium for the climate and massage hardware, and complexity is the enemy of longevity in seating. The 3-year warranty is good for this category, but it is not a decade.

4. The fit range excludes people at both ends. AutoFull recommends 5'3" to 6'3", and separately says the dynamic lumbar is optimised for 5'9" to 6'2". If you are 5'2" or 6'5", this chair is not designed around your body, and no amount of adjustment fixes a frame built for someone else.

One more practical note: everything interesting in this chair needs power. A cooled, heated, massaging seat means a cable running to your chair, and a chair you cannot freely spin away from the desk without thinking about it.

Who should buy it - and who should not

Buy it if you are in the 160-190 cm range, you sit for very long sessions, you run hot, and you have already tried a good passive chair and still end up shifting from heat and lower-back fatigue. For that specific person, the climate system is a real solution rather than a feature list, and the 3-year warranty makes the risk tolerable.

Skip it if your budget is the deciding factor - a EUR 300 chair with correct adjustment beats a EUR 900 chair you cannot afford. Skip it if you need a chair immediately (Ultra+ is pre-order), if you are outside the height range, or if you want the simplest possible thing that will still work in ten years. In that last case, buy a mechanical task chair with no electronics in it.

Verdict

AutoFull built a chair where the gimmick is actually engineered rather than bolted on, and then priced it accordingly. The cooling and heating figures are specific and published, the lumbar system is properly adjustable, and the load rating and warranty are honest. What you are buying is comfort hardware, and what you are accepting is complexity, a pre-order wait and a price that puts it against genuinely elite passive chairs.
