Most commuter scooters are built for smooth city pavement and nothing else. The NAVEE UT5 Max is aimed at riders whose route includes potholes, gravel or a steep hill, with 12-inch self-sealing tires, dual hydraulic suspension and a 716Wh battery.

I went through the full specification table and feature list on the manufacturer's product page for the EU version, which is limited to 25 km/h. Below is my breakdown of what it offers, where it makes sense and what to weigh first. You can see the current price and any promotions on the official NAVEE store (Naveetech).

NAVEE UT5 Max electric scooter, EU version

Power and battery

The UT5 Max has a rated power of 700W and a maximum power of 2400W, running on a 46.8V battery of 716.04Wh built from 18650 cells in a 13s6p arrangement. The battery weighs 4.2 kg. In the EU version, top speed is capped at 25 km/h, and the speed modes are 6, 15 and 25 km/h.

NAVEE lists a maximum climbing grade of 39%, which is steep. As with any such figure, it is a manufacturer maximum, and real performance depends on rider weight and battery charge.

Range and charging

Range depends strongly on speed: 100 km at 15 km/h, 82 km at 20 km/h and 65 km at 25 km/h. These come from the brand's test conditions with a 75 kg rider on flat, paved ground at full throttle at 25 degrees C, so expect less with a heavier rider, hills or cold weather.

Standard charging takes about 7 hours, and fast charging with a 10A charger takes about 2 hours. The scooter also has built-in USB-C charging so you can keep a phone powered for navigation.

Ride comfort and brakes

The scooter has dual hydraulic suspension, with adjustable settings that can be firmer for off-road control or softer for city rides. The 12-inch all-terrain tubeless tires include self-sealing gel that the brand says seals punctures up to 4 mm.

Braking uses 130 mm front and rear disc brakes plus EABS (electronic braking). The frame is automotive-grade steel with a 150 kg maximum load, and the brand cites 500,000+ cycles of durability testing.

Lighting, tech and size

Lighting includes a 6W auto-sensing headlight (about 36 m illumination), a 2W stop light and turn signals front and rear, meeting road-use requirements. The display is a 3.5-inch LED screen, and the NAVEE app and Apple Find My on iOS are supported. Water resistance is IPX6.

Dimensions are 1252 x 620 x 1358 mm unfolded and 1252 x 620 x 645 mm folded, with a 220 mm deck width. Net weight is 34 kg, which is heavy for stairs or public transport.

NAVEE UT5 Max scooter with 12-inch tubeless tires

My verdict

The UT5 Max has the specifications I look for in an all-road scooter: big tubeless tires, adjustable hydraulic suspension, strong brakes and a large battery. The weight and price are the trade-offs, and real-world range will be lower than the best-case figures.

Verdict: a capable, well-equipped all-terrain commuter if you can handle its size.
