Here is what they mean, and what they leave out.

At $254.15 these cost less than a decent portable monitor and considerably less than a television, which is the comparison RayNeo clearly wants you to make. Current pricing, the limited editions and the accessory bundles are on the official RayNeo store.

What the Air 4 Pro gets right

HDR10 on a near-eye display is the significant claim

Wearable displays have historically been dim and low-contrast, which is why they never felt cinematic. HDR10 support implies a panel with the contrast range and colour depth to render highlight detail rather than clipping it to white. If RayNeo has delivered this on a 76g device, it addresses the category’s oldest weakness rather than its most marketable one.

76 grams is the number that decides everything

Comfort is the entire ballgame in wearable displays. Ordinary sunglasses weigh 25 to 45 grams; most previous AR glasses were well over 100. Seventy-six grams with adjustable nose pads and flexible temples is plausibly wearable for a full film, and that changes what the product is for. Weight, not resolution, is what sends people back to their laptop screen.

Universal USB-C plug-and-play

No app, no pairing, no companion box — connect over USB-C to a phone, laptop or console and you get a 120Hz display. That simplicity is why this category works for travel: it is a screen, not a platform, and it does not ask you to move your media library anywhere.

OptiCare eye protection is not just marketing

3840Hz dimming with flicker-free low-blue-light operation is a genuine specification, not a vague comfort claim. Low-frequency PWM dimming is a real cause of eye strain and headaches on cheap displays, and a near-eye device is the worst possible place to get that wrong. RayNeo publishing the dimming frequency is a good sign.

Bang & Olufsen audio across four speakers

Open-ear audio in glasses is hard, and a four-speaker array with a credible audio partner is a better answer than the tinny single drivers this category usually ships.

Three things I would change

1. A "201-inch screen" is a viewing-distance calculation, not a physical fact

Virtual screen sizes are quoted at an assumed distance and mean very little on their own. The specification that actually determines how immersive the image feels is field of view in degrees, and RayNeo does not state it in the listing I read. Two devices can both advertise a 200-inch screen and deliver visibly different experiences. Ask for the horizontal field of view before you compare against a competitor.

2. AI SDR-to-HDR upscaling is interpretation, not restoration

Vision 4000 converts standard-dynamic-range content to HDR in real time, and it can only do that by inferring highlight and shadow detail that was never captured. On some content it looks excellent; on others it produces unnatural contrast and crushed shadows. The same caution applies to AI 2D-to-3D conversion, which is compared to IMAX in the marketing but is a synthetic depth effect. Treat both as optional processing you may want to switch off.

3. They need a host device, a cable and prescription planning

These glasses have no battery and no processor of their own — they draw power and video from whatever they are plugged into, which will drain a phone noticeably over a feature-length film. Not every USB-C port carries video, so some devices need an adapter that is sold separately. And if you wear glasses, adjustable nose pads do not solve refractive error; prescription inserts are a separate cost and a separate fitting exercise that RayNeo does not address in this listing.

Who should buy it — and who should skip it

Buy it if

  • You travel or commute often and want a large private screen for film and gaming without carrying a monitor.
  • Your phone, laptop or console has a USB-C port with DisplayPort alt mode, or you are willing to buy the adapter bundle.
  • Contrast and comfort matter more to you than raw pixel count, and you have found previous AR glasses too heavy.

Skip it if

  • You need a shared screen — this is inherently a solo device and no one else can see what you are watching.
  • You wear a strong prescription and are not prepared to buy and fit inserts.
  • You want a standalone device; these are a display, not a computer, and they will drain your phone.

The verdict

The Air 4 Pro reads like the first generation of wearable display that solved the right problems rather than the easy ones. HDR10, 120Hz, 3840Hz flicker-free dimming and 76 grams are the specifications that actually determine whether you keep the glasses on, and RayNeo has published all four. At $254.15 they undercut a good portable monitor while offering something a monitor cannot. The missing field-of-view figure is a real gap and the AI processing claims deserve scepticism, but as a private travel cinema this is the most convincing version of the idea I have seen at this price. Confirm your source device outputs video over USB-C before you order.
